Places We Stayed Cheap

I can be a real cheap skate when it comes to searching for places to stay on a vacation or short trip. On our recent vacation/trip to my sister's wedding I found some pretty good deals on motels.

The best cheap deal was probably the first place we stayed in Tallahasse, FL. It was the La Quinta Inn on North Monroe and the rate was $49.40 including tax. The Inn was older but the room was large and clean. This was probably the most quiet place we have ever stayed. No frig or microwave but there was wireless internet.

Our least favorite stay was our longest in Charleston, SC at the Econo Lodge on Savannah Hwy. We stayed there for 4 days and it cost $283.46. The first room they gave us was a double and it was so tiny that we moved to a king size with a recliner. Our son slept in the recliner. The carpet and bathroom needed a good cleaning. There was no internet and no pool.

After the wedding we traveled to Savannah, GA and stayed at another Econo Lodge close to the Oglethorpe Mall. Two night was $118.81 with tax. This was a big improvement on the Charleston Econo Lodge. The first thing I noticed what the clean smell in the room. They did have wireless internet that I used. This was my 1st experience with wireless away from home and it was super easy to connect. There was also no pool but visiting the Atlantic ocean 16 miles away more than made up for that.

The very last place we spent the night was in Panama City Beach. I searched high and low on the internet for a rate that wasn't almost $200. Finally found it at the Country Inn & Suites on Clarence St, $102.56 including tax. All we could say was "Wow". It was a fantastic room with at least a 12 ft ceiling. Huge bathroom, flat screen tv, huge frig, pool and super clean. The bathroom was really clean. Only issue was room was a connecting room and we could hear the neighbor yakking on his cell thru the door.

All the reservation were made thru the internet on the Econo Lodge website and Priceline.com

Soon I will post some of our site seeing tours.
